Delhi has a way of surprising people. It’s a small town with deep roots, tucked into the rolling farmland of Norfolk County. You’ll find historic brick buildings, local shops, and a community that takes pride in where they come from. This is the kind of place where neighbours still wave and farmers markets are a weekend ritual.
Known as the “Heart of Tobacco Country,” Delhi has evolved beyond its agricultural past. While the area’s rich farming heritage remains part of its identity, local farms have transitioned to crops like ginseng, lavender, and hemp. The Delhi Tobacco Museum & Heritage Centre tells that story and celebrates the town’s multicultural roots, including Dutch, Portuguese, Ukrainian, and Caribbean communities that helped build the area.
For families, Delhi offers Delhi Public School and Delhi District Secondary School through the Grand Erie District School Board, plus St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Elementary School. The town is about 45 minutes from Brantford, just over an hour from Hamilton, and around 25 minutes from Port Dover’s beaches. Close enough to commute, far enough to feel like you’ve escaped the city.
