Oakland is a small village tucked into the rolling countryside of Brant County, about 15 minutes southwest of Brantford. If you have ever driven along County Road 24, you have passed right through it.
The village has some serious history. Originally called Malcolm’s Mills, this was the site of the last land battle of the War of 1812 fought in Upper Canada. On November 6, 1814, American forces clashed with Canadian militia right here. Today, a historical plaque at the corner of Oakland Road and King Street marks the spot, and Lion’s Park occupies much of the former battlefield.
Oakland is the kind of place where people wave when they drive by. Kids attend Oakland-Scotland Public School (JK-8), part of the Grand Erie District School Board, which serves both Oakland and neighbouring Scotland. For high school, students typically head to Brantford.

Oakland is a small village in the County of Brant, located about 18 km (11 miles) southwest of Brantford. It sits at the intersection of County Road 24 (King Street) and Oakland Road (County Road 4). The drive to downtown Brantford takes roughly 15 to 20 minutes.
