St. George is a village of about 3,350 people in Brant County, roughly 10 minutes west of Brantford on Highway 5. Often called “Canada’s Friendliest Little Town,” it has a Main Street that feels like stepping back in time, lined with antique shops, a British-style pub, a traditional tea house, and heritage buildings dating back over a century.
The village was founded in 1814 and has kept much of its small-town character. Highlights include the Sunnyside Mansion, built in 1888, which has been used as a filming location for CBC’s Murdoch Mysteries. St. George sits between Brantford to the east, Paris to the west, and Cambridge about 15 minutes north.
Every September, the village hosts AppleFest, a Top 100 Ontario Festival for ten consecutive years. Over 27,000 people show up for a weekend of apple pies, cider, live music, and 130+ vendors. Free admission, free parking, and a Saturday night street party. Buy a home here and you’ll have front-row seats to one of Ontario’s best community events.
